A transplant surgeon spends his career deciding which organs can be saved, which bodies cannot, and who gets another chance at life.

To everyone around him, he represents hope. He takes failing bodies and finds something worth salvaging. He works at the point where death can become someone else's survival, where loss and possibility occupy the same operating theatre.

But years spent treating the human body as a collection of viable parts have changed the way he sees it.

His fascination with anatomy no longer ends when the operation does, and the boundaries between clinical curiosity, control and desire have begun to disappear entirely. Behind his professional reputation is an obsession that has been allowed to grow unchecked, protected by expertise, authority and the assumption that a doctor touching a body must have a medical reason for doing so.

Some patients receive another chance at life.

Others discover that survival isn't necessarily the merciful outcome.
